Further Growth for Endeavour Academy Volleyball Club was confirmed today as Thursday nights will be added to the 2018 options for playing and representative squads. The New Thursday night Venue will be at the Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Stadium named after NSW former Premier the Honourable Mr Morris Iemma.

The stadium features two New Indoor courts and is host to many sports including now Volleyball.

The Centre is a state-of-the-art sporting facility that boasts multi-sport equipment and infrastructure. There are a number of facilities available in the centre that include and indoor gymnasium and lifting facilities which include access for athletes to:

Earlier today, it was excitement as the management of Endeavour Academy Volleyball confirmed the 2018 home for all playing and representative squads will be at the Hurstville Aquatic Leisure Centre which also includes the Johnny Warren Indoor Sport Centre which was officially opened in 2004 and named after legendary Australian Soccer player, the late Johnny Warren.

The stadium features three indoor courts and is host to many sports including now Volleyball as well as basketball, table tennis, hockey, indoor soccer, aerobics, badminton, netball, indoor touch and gymnastics.

The Centre is a state-of-the-art sporting facility that boasts multi-sport equipment and infrastructure. There are a number of facilities available in the aquatic area which include:

4:0 STREAK For The Sydney AMAZONS in AVL Eastern Conference As UTSSU Are Swept Aside in NSW

SYDNEY, AUS – Sydney AMAZONS – Sunday 23.10.2016 – Game 2, Round 4

The Sydney AMAZONS (4-0, Eastern Conference) are in a 4:0 Streak in AVL play in 2016 and a complete 5:0 Streak against UTSSU who have never won a match against the Sydney AMAZONS. The rivals have now contested 19 sets, in which the Sydney AMAZONS have won 16 and conceded only 3 for a set winning percentage of over 84 percent.

The AMAZON’S success is partly due to learning and developing recruitment methodologies, International Standard coaching information at a Club level and a desire to create a nurturing and supporting environment in which a NSW State team can now be properly drawn from all the best players in NSW. By recalling and retaining the best players produced in NSW and also sensibly accommodating family lifestyle factors this approach has proved a ‘silver bullet’ impacting the quality of the AMAZONS playing roster. The Sydney AMAZONS have a fresh approach and are adapting to a changing sporting landscape and are leading the way on defining ‘how’ to build a great team with a uniquely Australian approach to team culture.

Coach Ovid Prosilis “…Today’s match saw the team use different setters, different middles, different offensive players aimed at deliberately manufacturing disruption to our flow and symmetry of the team, and we still prevailed.

We are heavily focused on the ‘process’ at this stage of conference play and not on the raw scores. We know we will have to deal with adversity, difficulties and less than optimum playing and traveling conditions from our competitors.

We welcome the opportunities to practice adapting, and coping with adverse conditions, focusing on the particular ball in play and to prevail despite the odds, the score, the artificial pressure or the momentum swing in a match.

The Sydney AMAZONS are now at the top of the Eastern Conference after Round 4 and it’s a telling sign they are here to stay and have disrupted and changed Women’s Volleyball in NSW forever.

Sydney AMAZONS Triumphant Again Over UTSSU In 3:0 Domination

Sydney, Aus – Sydney AMAZONS – Saturday 22.10.2016 – Game 1, Round 4

Coach Ovid Prosilis – “…The Sydney AMAZONS (3-0, Eastern Conference) totally dominated the match in every phase of the game.

The serving was precise and controlled, the blocking is approaching world class, the defence system is fluid and mobile and the offence system is taking shape as ferocious and devastating in full flight. The AMAZONS barely allowed UTSSU to score double digit points in the first set closing the first frame out 25:10.

The third set was devastating with the AMAZONS conceding only 7 points of which 4 were their own service errors. We were able to sweep UTSSU 3:0 and rolling through 25:7 in the third frame.

We are mindful of having a ‘growth mindset’ and continuing our development and will intensely focus on making NSW the leader in Women’s Volleyball in Australia….”

Coach Ovid Prosilis – “…The second match today was an exhibition of how the Sydney AMAZONS will be a formidable and inspirational force for growing Volleyball in NSW.

The first set was a dominant performance with the execution of swing blocking and fast ball Volleyball that was sheer entertainment for the crowd and spectators. The team is working on its core philosophies beyond just technique and we have placed a premium on discovering the importance of focusing on team rather than self- improvement, team cohesion and learning and improving over winning.

We are showing an accelerated and efficient rate of transfer and although only in our first year we have already experienced success against a program that has at least 10 years in its development. We leave here today wanting to improve again…”

Coach Ovid Prosilis – “…Today was a historic day for Women’s Volleyball in NSW with the successful debut of the Sydney AMAZONS, triumphant in their maiden match.

The team has worked hardest on their culture and their execution of the ‘little’ things. Our training methods are targeted on a ‘process’ and while the result today is pleasing winning 3:0, our eyes are fixed on improving 1 percent each time.

Our aim is to execute at an International Standard and so the score is less important for the moment compared to evaluating our execution. We are ecstatic with the result but tomorrow is another day and our vision is fixed on perpetually mastering our game…”

Sydney AMAZONS and WARRIORS secure 27 Million Dollar Stadium for 2016 AVL Matches!

SYDNEY, AUS – Sydney AMAZONS & WARRIORS – Sunday 11.09.2016

The new AVL Sydney Amazons and Sydney Warriors today announced that the Club will play out of Netball Central Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park for the 2016 season.
Following consultation with Volleyball Australia and the management of Netball Central Stadium the Sydney Amazons and Warriors will host all their home games of the 2016 season at Netball Central in matches that will have the potential to set a new attendance record in the Australian Volleyball League.The Stadium has had the NSW State Government invest $27 million towards the construction of the new building, with a further $3 million provided by the Federal Government following the 2012 Commonwealth elections.
The complex comprises of five international standard courts, an additional ‘Show’ court which seats more than 800 people, an education and training room, athlete rehabilitation and physiotherapy facilities, amenities for players, officials and spectators, as well as providing training facilities and tournament facilities.
The deal to play there by the Sydney Amazons and Warriors is set to dramatically promote the Olympic Sport of Volleyball in NSW and stimulate the growth of the sport in the region. The Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park is a multi-purpose venue and the Olympic Park has won awards for its match day and customer experience – attributes the Sydney Amazons are looking forward to providing all AVL supporters. Stadium capacity for seated members and allocation for room in an admissible area for the development of a passionate supporter following for the Sydney Amazons and Warriors were key elements in selecting the venue.
The Sydney Amazons management said that the decision to move to the venue at Sydney Olympic Park was based on the best interests of the sustainability and growth of the Club and teams playing in a National League and setting a branding presence worthy of participating in an Australian National Level Competition.
“Sydney Olympic Park offers this exceptional venue in this Stadium which will best serve our current and growing member base and provides a major growth opportunity for the Club which allows us to offer a greater number of Sydney Amazon and Sydney Warrior fans access to our blockbuster matches both now and into the future. It is our goal to establish ourselves as one of Australia’s outstanding sporting clubs and the premier Volleyball Club in Australia”.

Feedback from Volleyball Australia indicates they are thrilled to welcome the Sydney Amazons and Warriors to play matches at Sydney Olympic Park. Unanimous support was also received form all the States in the Conference travelling to Sydney to play there and this support by the wider Volleyball community is exactly the kind of collaboration that will catapult the Olympic Sport of Volleyball into the attention it deserves as we move into the 2016 AVL season.
While Volleyball Australia will finalise and publish soon the precise match times of the draw in the coming weeks, the Sydney Amazons and Warriors will play their first home game of the season on Sunday, 2nd October 2016 against UTSSU.

CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST VOLLEYBALL AUSTRALIA WOMEN’S CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE

Volleyball Australia is calling for Expressions of Interest from talented volleyball players to join the National Women’s Volleyball Centre of Excellence to be based at the AIS Canberra from the beginning of 2017.

The Centre of Excellence is a new full time program for Australia’s most talented volleyball players who wish to pursue a high performance career in volleyball, with interest in playing professionally overseas, or attending quality Volleyball Programs at US colleges, leading into the Volleyroos, the senior national team.

The Centre of Excellence is aimed at players from school leaver age up to Volleyroos level. However, in 2017, the first year of the program, current Volleyroos players who have aspirations for professional contracts will be welcome to apply for the program as well.

The program will run from February to November of each year, and player contracts for the Centre will be on an annual basis. Up to 22 players will be invited to the Centre. They will be expected to be engaged in study or work during the year, but to be available for daily training and strength and conditioning and recovery, as well as competition throughout the year.

The program will provide high performance coaching and strength and conditioning coaching, a level of physiotherapy and medical support, other sports science and recovery support, and first class facilities at the Australian Institute of Sport. Medical expenses beyond that provided at the AIS will be at the player’s cost. Players will be asked to contribute an annual fee of $1500 and to provide their own living arrangements in Canberra. Program staff will assist in finding accommodation and study opportunities as required. The program squad will compete in local leagues, the AVL in 2017/18 and other competitive opportunities. It will work closely with the Volleyroos (Senior National Team) when the Volleyroos are assembled in camp.
