FUNDRAISING

HELP Raise money for our club through recycling.

There’s a new fundraiser in town. Recycling. Easy, open to all and great for the environment, recycling through our state’s container deposit scheme can be a highly effective fundraiser for our  club and community group. Just think—you’ll clean up your local area, help reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill and learn a thing or two along the way.

You can help our club or raise money by providing easy access to the container deposit scheme operating in our state.

Why our club should recycle.

  • Recycling is a hassle-free fundraising option.
  • We’ll reduce litter around our club and neighbourhood.
  • It engages our members on the subject of sustainability.
  • It’s highly effective.
  • We can run it all year.
  • People love it.

How it works.

Fundraising through recycling is easier than you may think.

  1. Members and players collect eligible containers.
  2. Return them to the Club on training nights or arrange a pickup with the club.
  3. Earn money for our club.

Are our members’ containers good to go?

As a general rule, most drink containers between 150ml and 3L can be returned for a refund under our state’s container deposit scheme.

Containers should be empty, uncrushed, lid-free and display the refund marking for our state.

Knowing what can and can’t be returned.

While the rules vary from state to state, every container deposit scheme currently running in Australia was designed around one main objective: reducing litter. What that means is that the containers eligible for the 10-cent refund tend to be drink cans, bottles and containers that people dispose of while out and about. For example, soft drink cans are eligible for the 10-cent refund whereas 2L milk bottles are not. But no matter where you are, containers need to be empty, the lids removed and have the 10c refund marking.

First things first.

Most containers between 150ml and 3L that are made of PET/HDPE, Aluminium/Steel, Glass and Liquid paperboard are eligible for return under our state’s container deposit scheme.

Any container outside the 150ml-3L range probably can’t be returned. Moreover, non-beverage containers such as shampoo and detergent bottles, and things like wine and cordial bottles cannot be returned under your state’s container deposit scheme.

Containers should be:
  • Marked with the 10c refund logo on the label
  • Empty of liquid
  • Not crushed or broken
  • Without lids or bottle caps
